E neva clear wen pipo go start to dey collect dis new national ID, but NIMC don announce how you go fit apply ahead of wen dem go dey ready to roll am out.

According to di commission, na for NIMC office, bank or a bank approved center pipo go fit apply for di new card, becos e go work both as ID card and ATM card.

Di step by step application na like dis:

  • Go to NIMC office or your bank or a bank-approved centre and request for di new card
  • You go provide your National Identity Number and proof say you don reach 18 years
  • Di bank go forward your NIN to NIMC and oda identity data to verify your information
  • Di bank go use di verified information to prepare di EMV data bifor dem go personalise am and print on am
  • Afta di printing, di bank go issue di card to you
  • E dey take two to three working days for di new card to dey ready

Di ATM part of di card go get expiry date but e no mean say di card don expire as ID card.

Wen di ATM part don expire, you fit go to di bank to renew am, or you fit go ahead to dey use di card only as ID card.

According to di NIMC website, foreigners wey be legal resident for Nigeria go fit apply for di card also.
