Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo don confam say true-true, goment approve airstrip (wia aeroplane go dey take-off and land) for Canaanland.

Dis na afta di founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide alias Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo bin say federal goment don give di church approval make dem build airstrip for di church ground.

Pastor Oyedepo announce am during di special thanksgiving for im 70th birthday for Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State on Sunday, e tok say airplanes go fit to fly directly from Canaanland directly to anywia no need make dem first reach airport.

Di pastor encourage young pipo make dem follow God plan for dia life.

“I dey sure say you go dey glad to know say federal goment don approve airstrip for Canaanland. We dey work in di centre of God plan. I no go need to fly helicopter from here to airport, I fit go from here to wiaever I wan go. Members wit dia planes go get wia to land and park becos we dey in di centre of God plan,” Oyedepo tok.

“You no dey glad to know say I get captains wey dey fly me, wey graduate from covenant university. We no get aviation department for di university but dem find dia place in God plan, dem go afta am on dia own. Some of dem be captain of commercial flights for dis kontri and outside becos dem find dia plan in God.”

For exclusive interview wit BBC Pidgin, di Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo confam say dem approve di airstrip for Bishop David Oyedepo Caananland.

Im tok say according to di law, anybodi fit get im own airstrip soo far you meet di conditions.

“Na me approve di airstrip for Canaanland, di law tok say if anybodi wan do private airstrip wia plane fit land and di pesin get di power, di area, di land we go go look am first.”

Oga Keyamo explain say im no just approve am, dem follow due process and all di technicalities and before dem give di approval, dem check di environment, di ground if e dey strong enough to hold aircraft. Dem also check oda tins for safety.

“You go carry your technical pipo go look am, di pipo wey know book for di mata.

Dem go look am say dis place hope say anoda pesin, house no dey near where go endanger any life wen di plane wan land.

Dem go touch di ground to check weda e strong reach to put tarmac or runway, if dem see say e dey strong enough dem go approve am.

Dem go also check if space dey to build tower, dem go kon give am list of tins – light, fire fighting place, navigation equipment, electricity (light) dey. Di pesin go con sign di agreement”

Oga Keyamo say if di private pesin wey wan build im own airstrip no fit do all dis tins, dem no go allow am.

Im add say no particular time line dey for pesin to build airstrip, but anytime di pesin finish, dem go still come check am.

So di first step na to get di approval from goment to show say di pesin serious.

“Na me approve am, e follow for di power wey minister get, wen dem bring di paper come, I look am say, Oyedepo, im get plenti members, im be like pesin wey dey serious.”

Im say im approve am sake of say di church na serious organisation.

In all, Nigeria get about 90 airstrips – both private and public – according to informate from di authorities.
