Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) for di village of Tsakuwa wey dey for Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area for Kano State dey suffer from lack of school teachers to teach dia pikins, and dis don force di villagers and one foundation to gada moni to hire teachers for di students.

GGSS Tsakuwa, na school for di village wey don dey exist for ova 14 years and dey face lack of resources, including teachers, seats wia students go sidon and oda tins.

At least, na 800 students dey for di school, but dem dey face di problem of shortage of teachers.

Also, di number of goment teachers for di school no pass eight, and di children dey go school sometimes witout teachers to teach dem.

Na im make di pipo wey dey for di village create one foundation wey dem dey call Tsakuwa Mu Farka, and na dis foundation dey fund di teachers wey dem dey hire to teach di students for di school.

Abdullahi Yusuf na di head of Tsakuwa Mu Farka organisation wey dey in charge of education for di village. Im describe di wahala dem don face to try solve di problem by sending letter to di Kano goment for improvements to di school education system, but dia efforts no work.

E tok say afta dia complaints to di goment no get answer, dem create di organisation wey go improve education of dia village students.

Dis make di organisation hire 16 teachers wen dem first start for 2021 to help teach di students, paying dem 10,000 naira each month.

“Wen di organisation first start, we hire 16 teachers to assist di GGSS school wey dey for Tsakuwa sake of say sometimes di pikins dey go school come back witout bin tot anytin.

“Now as I day tok to you our schools no get enough resources like teachers and chairs for di students, among oda tins.

“Na from our organisation pocket, wey we found three years ago, we dey pay di hired teachers. We dey get di moni from di organisation members and di parents for our village,” Abdullahi tok.

“Sometimes we dey tok to one pesin tell am say dis month na you go pay one or two teachers for your won pocket dis month.”

E add say dis year, dem don hire anoda 10 teachers to help teach di students, wey mean say dem don hire 26 teachers in total.

Some of di volunteer teachers wey BBC News Pidgin tok wit don tok say dem dey do dis work to contribute dia own part to di education of di village pikins, even say wetin dem dey dash dem no reach anytin at all.

Ibrahim Alhaji Hamisu tok say, “I don dey do dis work for three years and I dey do am no be sake of di moni wey dey inside di job or di moni wey dem dey give me, but to help teach di pikins sake of say I see dem as my younger siblings. And dem too wen dem grow, dem go dey do di tins wey dem see say we dey do.”

“Bifor I join na di Tsakuwa Mu Farka foundation put me for one teaching skill wey dem go show me how I go fit do di job well” Hamisu tok.

Fatima Auwal Idris tok say she start dis work three years ago, and dem dey pay her 5,000 naira evri month.

“I start dis work three years ago afta dem form di Tsakuwa Mu Farka committee, and dem dey pay me N5000 evri month. I dey do dis work for myself sake of say I believe say since the goment no provide teachers for us, we suppose do am oursef to help our younger ones wey dey grow.”

“I also believe say dis kind volunteer work we dey do go make di goment help us by providing more teachers for us.”

“I hope say one day goment go look us and send teachers for our schools wey dey for dis village” Fatima tok.

Parents for Tsakuwa village don show dissatisfaction about di condition dia pikins dey face for di town schools.

Sani Bala, wey be father of four pikins wey dey attend di school tok say, “E dey pain us well well say for goment schools, we no get enough teachers. E reach di point wia we go gada moni from our own pockets to pay di volunteer teachers wey we hire.”

“Our pikins dey sidon for ground sake of say dem no get seat to sidon on top in di class” Bala tok.

Salisu Idiris also show im sadness and call on di Kano goment to take action and provide assistance for di education mata for di village.

“We no fit fully express our disappointment, but our call to di goment be say make dem provide teachers for our schools wey go teach our pikin,” im tok.

“Education dey veri important, na im be reason we start dey gada moni for di village to pay for di volunteer teachers wey dey teach our pikins for di school”.

But up till now as we dey bring dis report, BBC News Pidgin don try reach Kano State Commissioner of Education by sending messages and making phone calls for dis matter, but im neva respond to any.

Even as dem divide di classrooms, e still no reach, as some students dey learn outside. Each classroom get ova 80 to 100 students, and di whole school get only six teachers.

Join-join classe dey cause confusion as students dey hear wetin dem dey teach for di next class wey zinc just divide. Plus, anytime rain fall, dem go close school as di classrooms dey leak.

Parents wey BBC News Pidgin interview tok say di last time dem repair di school na during former Govnor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso time, ova 12 years ago. Dem vex well well over di bad condition of di school.

One parent, Isiyaku Telan Gayu, tok say students dey come from different villages sake of say na only di school dey di area.

E say, “Di pikins wey dey study for di school don reach 1,000 or even more sake of say some dey come from oda villages since na di only primary school wey dey for dis area.”

According to Gayu, di classrooms no reach and some students dey learn outside.

E say, “E get one teacher wey dey try clean di ceiling, e fall ontop am sake of say e don spoil, but e no injure.”

Anoda parent, Ibrahim Abdulkadir Jama’a, wey get four children for di school, say anytime rain fall, dem go send pikins go house sake of say di roof dey leak. E say each class for di school get 80 or more students.

E tok say, “Now na only one block remain wey dey okay small, and dem don divide am into classrooms, causing overcrowding. Some of di pikins dey learn outside on top mat.”

One local resident share fotos of di school poor condition for social media, and e make people vex well-well wit di state government neglect of rural schools.

Afta di fotos go viral, Kano State Government send di Commissioner of Education to di village.

Umar Haruna Doguwa, di state Commissioner for Education, bin go di school to see wetin dey happun and promise say government go do somtin about am.

Doguwa tell BBC News Pidgin say government dey work ontop di mata and dem go build new classrooms for di school.

Doguwa also tok say na Govnor Abba Kabir Yusuf send di pictures give am and tell am say make e go see di school so dem go fit renovate and build new classrooms.

“Unfortunately, wen I go di community, dem tell me say even di land wey di school dey on, government neva pay for am. We dey tok about di school wey bin dey since 1977, so for dis mata, di Kano state government go pay for di land and any oda land wey we go need to build di new classrooms.

“For one part of di school building, plenty classrooms dey wey no get roof. E mean say wen rain fall, di classrooms go dey wet and di pikins no go fit use dem. E dey veri hard for dem to learn wen dis kain tin happun. We dey plan to do somtin about dis problem so dat all di classrooms go dey safe and usable, especially wen rain dey fall,” Doguwa tok.

Di commissioner add say di Govnor Yusuf dey wait make di chairman of Gezawa Local Government bring am report on top di mata so dem go fit start to renovate di primary school as soon as possible.

Dis no be di first time wey report dey say goment for Nigeria dey abandon public schools especially di ones wey dey for village.
