Court sentence man to one year in prison for deceiving im mother-in-law say e go help am marry ex-President Buhari

One magistrate court wey siddon for Minna, Niger State, north-central Nigeria don sentence one Gambo Adamu to 12 months in prison on top accuse say e deceive im mother-in-law and use magomago collect money from her.

According to report from Daily Trust, Oga Adamu bin tell im mother-in-law Sa’adatu Aliyu say im dey arrange marriage between her and Nigeria former president, Muhammadu Buhari.

Di mother-in-law wey be divorcee bin show for court for January 2023 to complain say her son-in-law don use magomago collect money wey reach five million naira from her wit promise say e go connect her wit ex-President Muhammadu Buhari for marital relationship.

She tell di court say her son-in-law give her N100,000 as bride price, one basket of kola nut and fried chicken wey dey inside one bag as gifts from ex-President Buhari during di fake wedding fatiha.

She tok say she don wait so tey for di former president to come pick her as im new wife, as she no see am na why she decide to carry di mata come court for intervention.

To arrange marriage wia di groom go dey absent na normal thing for some parts of Nigeria. Dis dey happun mostly for case of long distance relationship, wia one of di spouse no go fit show for di marriage.

For some of those cases, di foto of di groom or one of im relative fit stand in for di groom.

Madam Saadatu further tell di court say di accused bin ask her to set up Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) wia she go be chairperson and im wey be di son-in-law, go serve as di tok-tok pesin. E promise her say she go dey use am get benefits from di federal and state goment plus allocation of slots for Hajj.

Di Magistrate, Ibrahim Musa Zago sentence di defendant to 12 months in prison for cheating wey dey contrary to Section 322 of di Penal Code, wit option of N100,000 fine.

E also order say make di defendant pay N2m as compensation give di complaint.
