Di Labour Party bin no follow for political parties to reckon wit for Nigeria until few months to di 2023 general election wen di former govnor of Anambra State, Peter Obi join di party.

Wit Obi, di party get more dan six million votes for di presidential election, produce many senators and House of Representatives members, and even win one govnorship seat for di first time in dia history.

However, since afta di elections, na one week one trouble for LP as dem dey struggle to manage dia new popularity for Nigeria.

Di recent wahala now na between di LP national chairman Julius Abure and di party only govnor Alex Otti of Abia State afta Otti bin offer to host a meeting of di National Executive Committee of Labour Party on August 31 to discuss di leadership crisis for di party

Oga Otti bin tell tori pipo say di party need new leadership and e go good to dissolve Abure chairmanship and appoint new caretakers for di party.

Abure respond to dis call wit a press conference wia e cut warning give Alex Otti and tell am say make e focus on govning Abia State and make e no chook mouth for di leadership of Labour Party.

“Assuming witout conceding say di tenure of di National Working Committee don even expire, e no be di responsibility of Dr Alex Otti as di govnor of Abia State to convene a NEC meeting to setup a caretaker committee,” Abure tok.

E go ahead to threaten say “di party no go hesitate to discipline any member of di party, however highly placed, wey no dey ready to obey di constitution of di party”.

Abure tell Otti say LP no be party wey one man or one woman or one leader go dey control anyhow, and e suppose dey respectful to di party wey give am power after e bin don fail wit PDP and APC.

Oga Alex Otti neva respond to dis outburst by Abure, and BBC Pidgin don send am request for comment.

Leadership tussle for LP

Di struggle for who go lead di Labour Party afta di 2023 elections start wen one of di party oga, Lamidi Apapa, declare imsef as di National Chairman as e tok say Abure tenure don finish.

Dat mata later reach court and afta some legal battle, in March dis year, di Court of Appeal declare Abure as di authentic chairman.

But by den some popular pipo wey join di party during di election don already dey vex wit Abure style of leadership and dem don dey call for am to step down.

Also, di Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) wey follow for di founders of di Labour Party, don call on Abure to step down. NLC members even do protest for di Labour Party Headquarters for Abuja, insisting say Abure must go.

Instead of stepping down, Abure and im excos organise a national convention for Nnewi for Anambra State, for wia e emerge as di national chairman for im second tenure.

Both Peter Obi and Alex Otti, and di two senators wey LP get, and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed wey be di party vice presidential candidate, no attend dat convention. But Otti bin send im deputy govnor to represent am.

Since afta dat convention, di leadership crisis for Labour Party no subside, rada e get bigger.

Following di wahala wey be like say e no dey finish for Labour Party, some of di popular pipo for di party don dey comot.

One of dem na Francis Onyewuchi wey dey represent Imo East Senatorial District for di National Assembly, wey comot from LP join di All Progressives Congress (APC).

Onyewuchi give im reason say na di leadership wahala for Labour Party make am comot.

Similarly, Kenneth Okonkwo, wey be di former tok-tok pesin of Peter Obi, also tok say e no go dey speak for Obi again, as e accuse di presidential candidate say e no dey strong enough to take a clear stand on di wahala wey dey go on for Labour Party.

Okonkwo, however, neva comot kpatakpata from di party.

Oga Yunusa reject di idea say Peter Obi dey weak as e neva take any clear stand on di wahala for Labour Party.
