According to di Department of Home Affairs, on Monday 5 August 2024, di organisers of di event bin send di department one request to verify di citizenship of one contestant, Chidimma Adetshina.

Department of Home Affairs, for dia preliminary findings allege say:

  • “Prima facie reasons exist to believe say fraud and identity theft fit don deycommitted by di pesin recorded in Home Affairs records as Chidimma Adetshina’s mama;
  • “Adetshina no participate for di alleged unlawful actions of her mama, as she be pikin at di time wen di activities take place for 2001;
  • “One innocent South African mama, wey her identity fit don dey stolen as part of di alleged fraud committed by Adetshina mama, suffer as a result becos she no fit register her pikin;
  • “Di Department don broaden dia investigation to identify and pursue any officials wey dey involved for di alleged fraudulent scheme, and dey obtaining legal advice on di implications of di alleged fraudulent activity on Adetshina citizenship status; and
  • “Upon di completion of di investigation, Home Affairs intend to press criminal charges against all implicated parties.”
