Legendary highlife singer Godwin Opara wey pipo sabi well-well as ‘Kabaka’ don die.

Kabaka record label, Derda Promotions tok say di music legend wey pioneer and transform highlife music die on Thursday 21 March.

Ammarachi Anyanwu, chief operating officer of Derda Promotions, announce im death for statement on Friday.

“Kabaka na talented and beloved songwriter and guitarist wey bring joy to countless fans wit im ogbonge highlife music,” Ms Anyanwu tok.

She, however, no reveal di cause of im death.

Last September, di late singer bin tok say im don ready to pursue im music career again afta 17 years wey e take break from music.

Im music journey span several years, genres and band.

For 1976, Kabaka begin im solo career, and form The Kabaka International Guitar Band.

E continue to produce high-quality highlife music. E release fourteen albums and create hits like “Mangala Special,” wey land am prestigious award.

E also experiment wit Ezebongo rhythms, wia e showcase im versatility and creativity.

Later, e join forces wit di Imo City Band, further solidifying im status as highlife legend.
